Finding

This finding looks at the relationship between religion and monetary giving to disadvantaged families.

Frequency of church attendance among Catholics was related to levels of giving to disadvantaged families. Catholics who reported high levels of religious attendance were, on average, more likely to give more money to low-income families.

Sample or Data Description
Data come from the 1986 General Social Survey and the Factorial Survey Component of the same year. The final sample contained 8,930 respondents.
