A qualified applicant to the familyfacts.org Fellowship program will be able to demonstrate that he or she meets the following requirements:

  • Enrolled in a full-time PhD program in the social sciences;
  • Excellence in quantitative analysis and statistical methods, evidenced by a full complement of graduate-level statistics and methods courses;
  • Completion of most (typically, all) doctoral coursework;
  • Completion of one quantitative research project, with written results (a paper written for a course is acceptable);
  • Likely to complete dissertation work in an area of interest to the familyfacts.org mission, i.e. behavioral outcomes in education, health, and welfare as they relate to various family structures and levels of religious practice;

Additional notes:

The typical familyfacts.org fellowship recipient is in the transitional stage between coursework and thesis research. The fellowship is designed to offer such students the opportunity to spend three to six months fully researching the published social science findings in an area of mutual interest to the student and to familyfacts.org. If you have additional questions as to whether the fellowship would be appropriate for you, contact Catherine Pakaluk at catherine.pakaluk@heritage.org
